Green Life Smart Life will show how today's security and surveillance systems are multi-faceted; both monitoring and "occupying" your home and family, whether or not they are there. If you travel for your job, remote access and management means being able to see what happens even when you're not there.

The advanced lighting control system will feature a clever "secure vacation" feature that will repeat the last two weeks of lighting activity in the home making it appear as if someone is home even while we are away. Since most of the lights in the house will be ENERGY STAR® rated, dimmable CFL's and the last two weeks of activity will be based on an energy efficient lighting schedule, the "vacation" mode won't expend any more energy than if we were actually there.

A full security system will be implemented along with on and offsite monitoring. If there is a triggered event while we are in the home the alarm will sound and police immediately notified.

Piggy backed on the security system will be the fire alarm system that will obviously notify the family when/if there is smoke or a fire. One key feature of the fire alarm will be two-way communication with the monitoring service during an event. Small microphones will be placed throughout the home and only activated when the fire alarm is triggered. The monitoring station will then be able to hear us in real time and communicate back via the speakers dotted throughout the house. This is important if someone gets trapped in another room and cannot get out - their location can quickly and easily be determined thereby reducing the amount of time it takes the fire department to get to that person.
